Hemiballism describes involuntary severe, violent, arrhythmic, rotatory and large amplitude movements of a limb from a proximal joint. We experienced a elderly stroke patient with hemiballism accompanied dysphagia that persisted for several months and we report a case that its severity was evaluated by the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais Sydenham¡¯s chorea rating scale (USCRS) and that was improved by conventional rehabilitation therapy and low dose quetiapine.
